Creation of the Museum of Science in Boston

The history of the museum begins in 1830, after a group of people gathered to share their relics and scientific achievements. The museum became a place to store animal skins and trophies from travels to Asia and Africa. After wandering and temporary buildings, it finally found its own place in the Back Bay area, taking the name “New England Museum of Natural History,” there it remained until World War II.

The institution’s collection grew steadily, and it changed its name to the Boston Museum of Science. After that, a plot of land was leased, where work began on the construction of a new building, they lasted three years and ended in 1951.

The science park opened in 1956, the planetarium – in 1958, after that the institution became considered the most comprehensive science museum on the territory of the United States. In 1990, it was joined by the Computer Museum, but only part of it, the other exhibit was sent to the Computer History Museum located in Silicon Valley.

Most of the collection is natural exhibits, where you can see stuffed animals and learn a lot of interesting things about their existence in the wild.

However, the most popular among visitors is the computing section, which tells about the history of computers. Here you can see the first U.S. computing machines, the first computer mouse and many other interesting exhibits, including a collection of the first video games.

There are many other curious exhibits, for example, a model of the solar system, Mercury and Venus, as well as an interactive collection of the Museum of Electricity, its exhibits are presented in the walls of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Also in the building there are several halls for presentations, which tell about the present and future of our planet, about modern achievements of science and technology.

There is a special hall for parents with children, where scientists will tell them about the nature of things in the process of conducting interesting experiments.

If you consider the interesting architecture of Boston, it is worth visiting the Massachusetts State Capitol, built in the period from 1795 to 1797.
