OGUNQUIT: An everyday tale of gummi bears, flying tomatoes, a botched penectomy and the Platonic notion that sex is the human effort to reconnect two halves of our original whole, Hedwig and the Angry Inch tells the story of fourth-wall smashing East German rock 'n' roll goddess, Hedwig Schmidt. A brutally honest musical theatre experience to startle your soul. Thursday nights at Club MaineStreet in Ogunquit, Maine (only 15 minutes from Portsmouth!) all summer. Performances run June 5th through August 28th at 9:30pm. Tickets are $15/general admission and available at the door. The outrageous and unexpectedly hilarious story is dazzlingly performed by Hedwig in the form of a rock gig/stand-up comedy routine, backed by hard-rocking band "The Angry Inch". Focusing upon Hedwig's lifelong search for the "origin of love" and her other half, the story's explosive finale explores the nature of identity in a superficial celebrity obsessed modern society - finally asking if, in today's world, there is any room for love and acceptance. It's a roller-coaster ride - funny, touching, emotionally draining and ultimately inspiring to anyone who feels life has given them an inch when they deserved a mile.  www.mainestreetogunquit.com
