Palace Theatre Announces Community
Summer Repertory Theatre
MANCHESTER, NH:
The Palace Theatre is proud to announce summer repertory theatre running for 6
weeks at the Palace Theatre in downtown Manchester, NH. The Palace Theatre’s
2008 Community Summer Repertory Theatre will include the musicals “Grease,”
“High School Musical,” and “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.”
“We had been receiving e-mails and feedback from our audience asking why we
didn’t have any musicals on our schedule for the summer,” commented Rebecca
Peterson, director for “Grease” and “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.”
“The summer had always been a time for a break between our professional seasons
of Broadway musicals and we typically focus primarily on children’s theatre for
the summer. We decided that it was time to start a summer theatre program and
select shows that would be great for several different audiences. ‘High School
Musical’ was an obvious choice as the hit Disney Movie is still very popular and
it is a great family friendly show for the summer. ‘Grease’ has more of an
appeal to teenagers and college students and many consider ‘Grease’ to be the
original ‘High School Musical.’ ‘I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change’ is a
show for adults that consists of a series of scenes and songs all about dating,
marriage, having children and growing old in love. It is very funny and also
very moving. The music is great and the scenes are well written. I genuinely
think that audiences will relate to the material and fall in love with the
show.”
All three shows are being performed in repertory beginning July 24 – August 31.
The actors were all selected through local community auditions and the shows
promise to keep musical theatre on the Palace Stage all year round. “High School
Musical” will run July 24, 25, August 1, 9, 15, 17, 21, 24, and 30. “Grease”
will run July 31, August 2, 7, 10, 16, 22, 29 and 31. “I Love You, You’re
Perfect, Now Change” will run July 26, August 3, 8, 14, 23, and 28. Tickets are
$20 for adults and $15 for children and students. For tickets and a detailed
