FALMOUTH, MA: Ashley, Brooks, Morgan and Cabnet Sign On To Direct The Cape Cod Theatre Project’s 15th Anniversary Season.
Directors Christopher Ashley, Evan Cabnet, Hal Brooks and Ian Morgan will all be developing new plays this summer with The Cape Cod Theatre Project.

Christopher Ashley is the Artistic Director of The La Jolla Playhouse. On Broadway, he has directed Xanadu, DiPietro’s All Shook Up, Blown Sideways Through Life. In New York he also directed The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told and Jeffrey (as well as the film) among many others. Mr. Ashley is directing DiPietro’s Broadway-bound Memphis.

Evan Cabnet has developed new works by CCTP alumni, Adam Rapp and Annie Baker among many others. He recently directed The Gingerbread House at The Rattlestick Theater.

Hal Brooks visited CCTP last season to work on Annie Baker’s Nocturama. He directed the acclaimed Off Broadway hit and Pulitzer Finalist Thom Pain (based on nothing) by Will Eno and Nilaja Sun’s Obie Award Winning No Child, among many others.

Ian Morgan is The Associate Artistic Director of The New Group where he has directed The Accomplices (Drama Desk Nomination), Rich Boyfriend and Critical Darling among many other productions.

Four plays will be developed in July at The Cape Cod Theatre Project, culminating in three performances of each play as staged readings on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm through the month of July at Falmouth Academy (7 Highfield Dr., Falmouth, MA).

Now in its 15th Season, The Cape Cod Theatre Project has produced 50 plays, 31 going on to full productions in New York and at prestigious theaters across the U.S. The Cape Cod Theatre Project continues to contribute to the vitality of the American Theater through its reading series by focusing on developing plays with top caliber talent and an enormously supportive audience. Each performance is followed by lively discussions with the audience which contributes to the further development of the finest emerging playwrights in America.

The Cape Cod Theatre Project Season is as follows:

A couple’s jet-lagged, sun-drenched, six-day trip to Israel collides with family, politics and the Six-Day War.

Creating Claire by Joe DiPietro, directed by Christopher Ashley (July 16, July 17, July 18)
An exploration of the supernova that results when science, faith and politics collide. A provocative new comedy by the author of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, The Toxic Avenger and the Broadway-bound Memphis.
