Grammy Award-Winner Bela Fleck to
Headline Naukabout Music Festival
EAST FALMOUTH, MA: The Naukabout, the 3rd
Annual Festival of Cape Cod, will return to the Barnstable County Fairgrounds in
Falmouth on Saturday, August 7, 2010, from 12:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The 2010
event will feature The Naukabout’s most impressive lineup to date. Multi-Grammy
award winner Bela Fleck, world class Indian percussionist Zakir Hussain and
contemporary bassist Edgar Meyer will perform as a trio to headline the
festival. Tickets for The Naukabout will go on sale Saturday, May 1 at
www.naukabout.com and are $27 in advance,
$30 day of show at the gate. Children under 12 will be admitted free. Gates open
at 12:30PM.
The Naukabout will feature continuous music throughout the day, with 10 bands
performing on two stages. Joining the trio of Bela Fleck , Zakir Hussain and
Edgar Meyer on the main stage will be the Ryan Montbleau Band, Barefoot Truth,
Adam Ezra Group and Black Marmot. On the Naukabout side stage, Will Dailey & The
Rivals, Lilly Scott with Varlet, Jeff Conley Band and Jon Beninghof will all
perform throughout the day. The opening act for the side stage will be chosen
through a special online contest with Sonicbids.com.
Naukabout is a lifestyle brand specializing in Afterwear: comfortable, quality
clothing for people to savor their favorite moments after work and sport.
Founded by Russ Gentile and Brook Conley, the company strives to inspire and
create opportunities for all people to knockabout – to relax and enjoy life - by
sponsoring events like the Naukabout Music Festival. A portion of the proceeds
raised by the festival will benefit Naukabout Gives, the charitable arm of the
company that strives to help children discover and achieve their dreams.
“Growing up, our father would come home after work and change into his
knockabouts – the clothes he wore to play ball with his kids. These moments –
when we put work aside to appreciate friends, family and life’s simple
pleasures, are what inspires Naukabout,” said Adam Conley, chief operating
officer for Naukabout. “The Naukabout Music Festival is designed to create such
a moment – both for those who attend the festival and for the kids who benefit
from the funds we raise. It truly can make a difference.”
A portion of the proceeds from the 2010 festival will benefit the Fresh Air
Fund, an independent non-profit that provides inner-city children in need the
joy of a summer vacation with volunteer host families and at Fund camps,
creating unforgettable memories and fresh possibilities.
In 2009, nearly 2000 people turned out to see performances from Rusted Root,
Trippin’ Lily, The Ryan Montbleau Band and many others. In 2010, The Ryan
Montbleau Band is just one of the bands that will take the stage, including:
 |
Béla Fleck, Zakir Hussain and Edgar
Meyer - three masterful genre-benders and the leading virtuosos on their
respective instruments.. Thirteen time Grammy Award winner Bela Fleck, the
premiere banjo player in the world will be joined by world music phenomenon

Barefoot Truth –Hailing from Mystic
Connecticut, the roots-rock band Barefoot Truth has quickly become a symbol
of independent music success, and is certainly one of the biggest bands
you've never heard of'. Mixing the sounds of folk, rock, jazz, and reggae,
with lyrics full of unbridled optimism, the band has crafted a sound that is
distinctly their own

Adam Ezra Group – The Adam Ezra Group
is the new voice in Boston’s acoustic rock scene, combining Ezra’s passion
for smart, well-written lyrics with their unique diversity of roots, pop and
acoustic rock sound.

 |
Black Marmot- With a blend of
acoustic folk and rock and the occasional touch of blues and country, the
music of Black Marmot is an appealing mixture of melodic stylings. Each song
is so unique, drawing from a multitude of musical and lyrical backgrounds,
that there is never any repetition; only the constant reinvention of the
band.
